HOLMBURY
ST MARY
SELF-SERVICE for SUNDAY, 16th AUGUST 2020
ORDER OF SERVICE
SUNDAY, 16th AUGUST 2020
The following contains most of the elements of an Iona Holy Communion service that is taking place in church at 10.30 on Sunday 16th August, to which all in the Leith Hill Benefice and beyond are extremely welcome.
OPENING PRAYER Led by David
Join Judith in making the responses
Grace, mercy and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
All: And also with you
Life is a journey on many different roads
All: But God is always with us.
Sometimes we lift our faces to the sun
All: And God is with us.
But then there is the hard journey through pathways of pain and fears in dark places.
All: But God is with us. Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
FIRST READING
God promises a bright future for those faithful to Him

SERMON Preached by Martha:
PRAYERS Led by Deirdre
Let us join with Deirdre, saying THE LORD'S PRAYER:
Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen
ANTHEM sung by members of St Mary's choir:

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING Led by Judith
Join David in making the responses
Gracious God, for your love for us as gentle as a shower, healing our pain, binding our wounds,
All: We give you thanks
For your love for us as sure as the dawn transforming our darkness, revealing your truth,
All: We give you thanks.
For your love for us, mercifully steadfast calling us to you, raising us up,
All: We give you thanks.
Urge us on, O Christ, to find wholeness through serving you, by serving others in the power of the Spirit. Amen
BLESSING given by Revd. Peter Nevins,
shortly to become our new Area Dean
