True and humble king,
hailed by the crowd as Messiah:
grant us the faith to know you and love you,
that we may be found beside you
on the way of the cross,
which is the path of glory.

PRAYERS Written by Deirdre
Almighty God and Father, as dawn breaks on this Palm Sunday, we picture the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem on a donkey, with the crowds laying palms beneath his feet, but who then deserted him at his crucifixion. May our faith remain firm and steadfast as we walk beside him on his final journey.
In times past when there has been plague and pestilence since the days of the birth of your Son, Jesus Christ, we have found solace, succour and help in our churches, but their doors are now locked against this virus. We believe that you have not forgotten us, as we have not forgotten you, and we have many means of offering up our unceasing prayers to your ever open throne.
St John tells us that on the first day of the week, your disciples gathered behind locked doors, but you appeared in their midst saying ‘Peace be unto you.’ We give you humble thanks for the work of our N.H.S., and for everyone who is working with them in this frightening time, and for all the volunteers who have answered your call.
We pray for our world which feels so alien and unknown at present, and for all our Leaders who are guiding us through it. We pray for the health and safety of all, especially that of our Queen, Prince Philip, the Prince of Wales and Prince William, as we bless and thank you for your most precious gift of our families and friends, but we pray today especially for those who have none, and whose feelings of loneliness and isolation are worse than ever, hoping that we can do our best to comfort them with your blessed help.
Gentle Shepherd, with the arrival of Spring and the birth of precious lambs, we recall your search for the lost sheep. We pray for those who are feeling lost, but are not forgotten, especially for all refugees, for the homeless, the hungry and the dying, and the bereaved.
With your help, may we do our best to bring comfort to all those in need.
Gracious Spirit, hear our prayers, and keep us safe in the darkness of the night.
Amen

BLESSING
The dying Saviour's love, the risen Saviour's power, the ascended Saviour's blessing, and the returning Saviour's glory be the joy and comfort of your hearts, now and for evermore. The Lord be with you all;
And the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be amongst us now, wherever we are, and remain with us always.
Amen
